MID North Coast Tomahawks

The Mid North Coast Tomahawks were courageous in defeat against the powerful Newcastle Wildfires at Tamworth on Saturday.

With a glut of possession the Newcastle team were able to put on five tries against the North Coast girls but the defensive effort of the Tomahawks was simply outstanding.

Backrowers Shikira Porter and Madeline Major were tireless in defence and made the very experienced Hunter girls work for every point.

Holding the Wildfires to 19-0 in the first half with less than 20% of possession was an outstanding effort.

The forwards were outstanding in defence and Emily Freeman and Jayne Macklin continually frustrated the Novocastrians.

Mid North Coast opened the scoring in the 2nd half with a brilliant try to the Pirates Emily Freeman, converted by Teleah Waitoa.

Hunter were able to score two more tries before Gloucester back Kayla Jory scored a brilliant try to make the final score 43 -12 with Hunter progressing to the finals against Central West.

The Tomahawks are on the field again tomorrow morning fighting out for 3rd spot in the Country Championships.
