Detectives appeal for driver to assist with inquiries in Coffs Harbour

 

DETECTIVES are appealing for assistance as they continue to investigate a stabbing in Coffs Harbour last week.

Just before 9.30pm on Saturday 29 May 2021, a 32-year-old man was walking south on Grafton Street when he was approached by a man – not known to him.

After a brief interaction, he was stabbed in the back before the armed man fled on foot along Park Avenue.

The injured man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus in a stable condition, he has since been released.

Detectives from Coffs/Clarence Police District have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to the driver of a white coloured sedan which was seen at the intersection of Park Avenue and Grafton Street around the time of the alleged incident.

The vehicle was stationary at traffic lights before heading north along Grafton Street.

Investigators would also like to speak to two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The first is described as being about 180cm tall, of a slim build, and with a short brown beard. He was wearing an orange/red coloured hooded jumper, blue trackpants and black shoes at the time.

The second man is described as wearing a black jumper and cream coloured pants, he was seen walking along Harbour Drive and Grafton Street towards Little Street at the time.
