At an exclusive season launch at the theatre in Hamilton, Leilani Rose, Riley McLean (Co-artistic directors) and Chelsea Willis (Associate Director) excitedly announced the company’s 2022 season.

This 2022 season will include two plays and four musicals, with only one abridged version of a show.

These shows will be Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare), The Spongebob Musical (straight from Broadway to the first Newcastle production), Stuart Little, The Aristocats Kids, Tuck Everlasting, and one secret show to be announced in 2022.

Chelsea Willis, YPT associate director told News Of The Area about the season.

“YPT is thrilled to announce our 2022 season to the community.

“We are incredibly proud of the line-up of productions and are confident next year’s season will continue to create exceptional theatrical experiences ‘for young people by young people’.

“2022 not only gives our students continued opportunities for growth but also an exciting season full of well-known characters and stories for our whole community to enjoy,” she said.

Young People’s Theatre has been providing opportunities for young people between eight and eighteen for over 70 years, putting on shows including Seussical, Beauty and the Beast, Annie and Cats.
