THE weekly Positive Behaviour and Learning Awards are heralded as a successful initiative for students in Port Stephens.

Nine schools participate in the awards where students are recognised for citizenship and their sense of community.

This week students Worimi Dates and Cooper Langham were both recognised for their sportsmanship while Irrawang High School’s Christina Muddle and Bella Rose Newell were recognised for their charitable contribution to the Leukemia Foundation after Christna shaved her head and Bella sold handmade jewellery as fundraisers for the cause.

Kindness was also recognised with Fletcher Fisher and Grace Barry and Tyler being kind and caring towards others.

Salt Ash Public School’s PBL student of the week was Libby Vogtmann, who was awarded for her contribution in supporting younger students during the ANZAC Day commemorations.

All of these students are to be commended and the support of MarketPlace at Raymond Terrace and the businesses within it has seen these students’ efforts recognised.

The PBL awards that started in Raymond Terrace have proved to be a very successful initiative, one which has spread across the LGA in various formats, all of these recognise students for their community contribution rather than academic or sporting achievements.
