THE biggest art exhibition by our local Galleries in the Gardens (GIG) art group is the annual Winter Warmer, so named in the hope it brings a ray of sunshine into what is usually a rather subdued and cool season.

Opening on Wednesday 9 June and running through to Monday July 12, this year’s exhibition theme is ‘Space’.

At the very least there’s headspace, personal space (such a hot topic for so many people in this last year of lockdowns!), inner space, the space around us, outer space and more.

As a subject, it has really challenged the GIG artists.

You’re invited to drop into The Gallery to see how they have represented this essentially unlimited notion – and see the results of judging by a visiting art professional.

You can also cast a vote for your favourite Space work in the People’s Choice Award (it may even win you a prize!), and enter the Winter Warmer raffle for another opportunity to win.

This year’s raffle prize is a work by GIG artist Glen Henry.

Due to COVID restrictions the annual Winter Warmer Art Exhibition launch party, always a social highlight, will not be held.

Surrounded by lush gardens, The Gallery is located at 81 Marine Drive in the café strip on the Tea Gardens waterfront (diagonally opposite the ferry wharf).

It is open daily, from 10am, closed Tuesdays. Entry is free and the building is wheelchair accessible.
