IN 2020 when the announcement was made to cease all singing due to the Covid19 pandemic, The Bowraville Theatre Singers sadly complied.

All shows were cancelled and all singing practise sessions were banned.

Due to ‘singing in a choir’ being classed as a high-risk activity, it has been one of the last Covid-19 restrictions to be lifted.

What does this mean for the choir?

This talented group of Nambucca Valley singers have now finally joined forces again to make musical magic after a year-long sabbatical.

The Bowraville Theatre Singers came into being over fifteen years ago.

It all began with a small group of choristers singing at the Bowraville Theatre as a sub-group of the Bowraville Arts Council.

As the years passed, the choir grew from strength to strength, performing year after year, proudly showcasing a diverse range of musical productions to their eager audiences.

Heather Edwards told News Of The Area, “The choir and its musical director, Lissa Argue, are very excited to be back singing together again after more than a year’s forced break due to restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The Choir has started practising and are warming up those vocal cords ready to start performing again.

With a special concert planned for Sunday July 18, all money raised will be going towards assisting the Bowraville Theatre with running costs.

“The Bowraville Theatre has also struggled during the pandemic, being dependent on the revenue from shows and movies to pay their bills,” Ms Edwards said.
