OVER 700 riders hit the track at Sydney BMX Club for the opening rounds of the AusCycling National Cup, round one was raced on Saturday with Coffs Coast Cyclones BMX Club riders racing against some of the best riders in Australia. Hannah Beattie raced in the 9-year girls on her 20-inch bike and finished in 7th place. In the 12-year boys Cody Beattie made the semi finals on his 20 inch and in the 11–12-year boys Cruiser event finished 5th. Tyler Calder raced in the 13-year boys and made the semi finals and raced in the 13–14-year boys Cruiser and finished 7th. Aaron Miller raced in the 15-boys 20 inch event, missing out on a semi-final spot. Aaron then raced up a division on his Cruiser in the 17-24 men’s division and finished in 6th position but was the top finisher for his 15-16 boy’s division. All four riders backed up on Sunday for round two of the National Cup and again performed well. Hannah Beattie finished in 7th place on her 20-inch bike. Cody Beattie had an awesome day finishing 5th on his 20 inch in the 12-boys and backed that up with a 3rd place on his Cruiser in the 11-12-year boys division. Tyler Calder made the semi finals on his 20 inch and on his Cruiser in the 13-14-year boys division finished 7th. Aaron Miller again missed the semi-finals on his 20-inch bike and finished in 7th place on his Cruiser in the 17-24 men’s division and again was awarded first place for his age group of 15-16 boys. These four riders can be extremely proud of their efforts and all enjoyed the experience of racing at a higher level. By John MILLER
