OPINION: Let Me Entertain You – Sorry We Can’t All Be Together

DEAR News Of The Area,

COFFS Harbour and District’s 49th Eisteddfod is commencing on 28 May.

Because we haven’t got a suitable venue to hold it all under one roof, the youth have to go to four different places.

Too bad if Mary is performing at one place and her sister at another.

Where do Mum and Dad go?

It is the same with ballet and dancing classes, as students have to go out of town for competitions.

Tamworth has a population of 66,000 and their venue holds 4,800 people.

Coffs has a population of 78, 000 and we are lucky to house 350 people.

When you see these stats of course we urgently need an Entertainment Centre, not only for the youth but for everybody to enjoy and to promote our area.

Regards,

Phyllis TAYLOR,
Coffs Harbour.

  1. I totally agree. The next major infrastructure challenge for this council is the Coffs Harbour Entertainment Venue (CHEV). Yes, we wish it was constructed years ago, but here we are. Thankfully, the council is all over it at the moment by conducting a detailed Scoping Study which is engineered to understand exactly what is needed and how to acheive same. I would encourage interested readers to check out the Have Your Say page on the council website.
