COFFS Harbour Swimming Club rolled out the red carpet for its annual presentation night held at Coffs Harbour Racing Club on the weekend.

After the cancellation of last season’s annual presentation night due to COVID-19, the Board of Coffs Harbour Swimming Club was looking forward to being able to host a night to celebrate all the local swimming club’s achievements.

With more than 180 swimming club members and their families in attendance, it was a great night to end a successful season of swimming.

Throughout the evening awards were presented to champions in their age groups, from club championships held over three nights at the end of the season to point scoring categories based on results from the entire 18-week program.

Special video messages were played during the night from two former Coffs Harbour Swimming Club members and now Australian Swimming team members, Maddie McTernan and Maddy Gough, passing on messages of encouragement and congratulations to Coffs’ next generation of swimmers.

Major awards were presented to swimmers achieving above and beyond in a range of categories including Bridie Gordon – Rookie of the Year, Teo Eggeling – Junior Dolphin of the Year, Harry Campbell – Young Achiever of the Year, Jim and Helen Phipps – Presidents Award, Oscar Croak and Aria Matthews – Adam Neville Memorial recipients, and Lily-Grace Herden – Spirit of the Anzac recipient.

Coffs Harbour Swimming Club runs from October to April through summer on Friday nights.

This season the club also introduced winter swimming to allow members an opportunity to have continued race practice.
