Karuah Roos overcome Clarence Town, Rooettes game abandoned due to injury

ON Saturday May 15, the Karuah Rooettes travelled down to Dora Creek while their male counterparts,the Roos, played at home against Clarence Town.

The Rooettes game was cut short after just 9 minutes when a Dora Creek player suffered a compound fracture of the leg.

The Rooettes’ Chloe Zdebski had scored in the early minutes to take the score 4-0.

In the men’s game, the Roos held a minute’s silence before kickoff to pay their respects to Kevin Johnson.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Johnson family at this very sad time,” said Karuah’s Sonja Evans.

Once the game was underway, the Roos Josh White was the first to score, with Aiden Bills converting to open the score at 6-0.

Clarence Town scored next to equal the score at 6 all.

Then Roos Aiden Bills crossed the line and converted his try to take the score to 12-6.

In a game of tit for tat, Clarence Town were next to score, taking the score to 12-10 in favour of the Roos.

Luke Perry was next to put points on the board and again Aiden Bills converted to take the score to 18-10.

Then Adam Crampton scored to help the Roos pull away to a 22-10 lead.

As the half drew to a close, Tom Tukana scored for the Roos, with another Aiden Bills conversion taking the score to 28/10 at the break.

The Cobras weren’t done yet however, scoring two converted tries to bring the score back to 28-22.

Josh White then crossed for his second try of the day.

Aiden Bills was calm and collected once more, converting again to extend the Roos lead to 34/22.

Captain Daniel Evans was next to score for the Roos, before Aiden Bills got his fifth conversion of the day to take the score to 40/22.

The Cobras scored and converted another try to take the final score to Karuah 40 – Clarence Town 28.

“In the Players Player 3 points went to Josh White, 2 points James Foster and 1 point to Mitch Baker. Sponsors Choice was Jack Bills and the Coaches Award was Nathan Ritzau,” said Sonja Evans.

Next week both teams are away with the Rooettes coming up against Maitland United at Coronation Oval kick off at 2pm on Saturday.

The Roos take on Stroud at the Stroud Showground kicking off at 3pm Saturday.
