LOCAL swimmer Ebony Nix has been enjoying a winning streak off the back of some serious training and hard work.

Ebony has recently competed in the National Swimming Championships and the State School Championships where she has had some great success.

Ebony was among three swimmers from Nelson Bay Swim Club to compete at the Nationals.

She was there alongside Randal Ingram and Taylor Corry.

Nix competed in the 13 year old girls with Randal Ingram in the 14 year old boys.

She took out Silver in the 100 metre butterfly event for her age group with a personal best of 1.03:20 seconds.

She also came 4th in the 200 metre butterfly with another amazing personal best of 2.22.

Pamela Nix Borthwick told News Of The Area, “After the Nationals she competed in the School State Championships and got a state record in the 100 butterfly as well as a gold in the 50 free and a silver in the 100 backstroke.”

Other members of the Nelson Bay Swim Club also did well at the nationals with Randal Ingram coming in as the second fastest 14 year old in the country for the 200 breaststroke at the Nationals.

Also of note was Taylor Corry who took out Gold for in the 50 metre butterfly, bronze in the 50 metre backstroke and silver in the 100 metre butterfly.

The Nelson Bay Swimming Club is located at Tomaree Aquatic Centre, Salamander Bay, in beautiful Port Stephens and part of the Coast & Valley Swimming Association.

The club is very proud of the achievement of the swimmers who represented them at the nationals.
