FOR 100 Years the Stroud Show has been showcasing the best the region has to offer.

That means stock, vegetables, show jumping and even a demolition derby.

After bitter disappointment seeing the 2020 show cancelled the 2021 100th Stroud Show was held over 9-10 April.

Stroud Show President James Harris told News Of The Area, “The Stroud Show Committee is incredibly happy to report massive numbers through the gates for the centenary event, with approximately 6,000 adults across the two days.

“We pride ourselves on being a family friend Show, and 2021 was no different with kids having a blast at the magic and reptile shows as well as dancing to Catherine and Viper Creek until 8.30pm on the last night.”

The Show was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister, Hon Michael McCormack MP along with the Nationals Candidate for Upper Hunter – David Layzell, Minister for Agriculture – Adam Marshall MP, and Dr David Gillespie MP were also in attendance.

“It was a successful weekend and enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.”

The ever popular Wife Carrying Competition was won by Brady Thomas and Sarah Hayes in a lightning fast time of 18.3 seconds!

Some wondered if perhaps Brady and Sarah had a slight advantage in the height to weight ratios?

“Our horse show boasted record horse entries, over 500 in the horse breeds and another 100 show jumpers.

“And, the Demolition Derby was absolute carnage with 25 cars racing around the Showground.

“Show goers experienced a ferris wheel for the first time and we auctioned the top three seats to watch the evening fireworks resulting in $500 which was donated to the Hunter Brumby Association and RDA,” explained Mr Harris.

Stroud Show will be back again in 2022 and is looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another great country show.
