Pearls of Port Stephens Easter Fundraiser

The Pearls of Port Stephens raised more than $3,000 for the Shake It Up Foundation.

WHAT a fantastic Easter break – perfect weather provided an opportunity to attend the fun activities held throughout our townships.

A continuous flow of generous people supported the Pearls of Port Stephens Book Sale and raffle at Hawks Nest.

The sum of $3,130.00 was raised and donated to the Shake It Up Foundation which is a not-for-profit Australian organisation that is committed to research to find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.

Due to the Founding Director’s commitments to cover all administrative costs of the foundation, 100% of the funds will go to research.

The sale gave people a reason to clear out their library of books, CDs and DVDs and then re-stock.

All donations were given by the community and the Easter hampers were donated by the ‘’Pearls girls’’.

Thanks to Ben Hanson and the Thursday night patrons of the Tea Gardens Hotel who dug deep to support the raffle and showed a genuine interest in the work of the Shake it Up Foundation.

The Foundation has expressed their gratitude to the Pearls for their efforts and in turn the Pearls say a huge thank you to our community and holiday makers for supporting the event.

Together we have made a difference towards speeding up a cure for Parkinsons.
