Archibald People’s Choice Award portrait named

THE votes have been tallied and the people of Coffs Harbour have spoken and chosen ‘Through the Looking Glass’ by Tessa McKay as the People’s Choice Award winner at the recently exhibited 2019 Archibald Prize exhibition at Coffs Harbour.

The portrait of actor David Wenham looking out of a cafe window mesmerised visitors to the recent exhibition, at its Culture Hub location on Level One of Coffs Central Shopping Centre.

The popular portrait also took out the coveted 2019 Archibald Packing Room Prize.

Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery staff thanked everyone who participated in the Archibald Prize ANZ People’s Choice Competition held by the Gallery as part of the 2019 Archibald Prize tour.

Congratulations also to Sian Leal of Queensland, who’s vote placed at the Culture Hub was randomly selected as winner of the Archibald Prize ANZ People’s Choice, and received $500 courtesy of ANZ Bank.

The Culture Hub is currently exhibiting Jagun Yamarr, a community-led exhibition featuring works by Gumbaynggirr artists exploring their deep connection to the local marine life.

The exhibition can be viewed from 10am to 4pm Tuesday to Saturday until 17 April.
