Flood clean up support arrives on the Mid North Coast

AROUND 1,000 support personnel arrived in flood impacted areas this week to assist in the regional NSW clean up effort, including on the Mid-North Coast.

250 Australian Defence Force personnel, 500 Rural Fire Service volunteers and 250 Firefighters will hit the ground to be deployed in areas where the floods have had a significant impact.

Federal Member for Cowper, Pat Conaghan said that while the clean up has already started, we would not be able to undertake the massive job ahead without this support and expertise.

“I continue to be amazed at the community spirit and unselfish way we’ve pitched in to help out those in need right across our region,” said Mr Conaghan.

“In addition to the wonderful job being done by the SES, having additional boots and machinery on the ground is much appreciated as we work together to rebuild our communities, and get our lives back together.”

The 1,000 support personnel commenced work on Thursday and are focused on clearing roads, removing debris, and assisting residents and businesses in their clean-up and restoration efforts.

Those needing flood clean-up assistance are encouraged to contact the SES on 132 500.

For life threatening emergencies call 000.
