PORT Stephens creatives are encouraged to apply for the new creative opportunities facilitated by the Port Stephens Council.

These positions will have work on revitalising the area, with a focus on Raymond Terrace.

“Our Council recently adopted the Our Incredible Place Strategy, which sets the focus for us to work with our valuable creative communities and artists.”

The four opportunities include:

Terrace Reflections: Multiple artists will be selected to exhibit three exhibitions annually, with the artworks being displayed on large scale panels on the external side wall of the building on the corner of William and Sturgeon Street, Raymond Terrace.

Raymond Terrace Art Space: A free opportunity to hold a month-long exhibition at the Raymond Terrace Art Space located inside the Raymond Terrace Library.

This opportunity is extended to painters, drawers, photographers, sculptors and everything in between.

Aboriginal Art: Aboriginal artists from Port Stephens are invited to submit a concept for two-dimensional artworks that reflect the local people, communities and or landscape for use in official Council marketing materials.

Raymond Terrace custom shade shelters: For designers, with the opportunity to design unique shade shelters for the public spaces in Raymond Terrace.

“Our culture is made up, in part, of arts and events.

“These are essential elements to support strong and vibrant communities.

“By giving opportunities for artists to create works that represent our community, we can increase the liveability of our places, add to the wellbeing of our residents, attract visitors and drive economic growth.

“We are also providing employment and skills development for artists who contribute to the diverse nature of the Port Stephens area,” said Mayor Ryan Palmer.
