Driver safety tips on offer at the Coffs Harbour Agricultural Show Coffs Coast Coffs Coast by News Of The Area - Modern Media - February 16, 2021 Two late model cars destroyed in road crash testing. ROAD users young and old are being encouraged to drop into the road safety marquee at the 2021 Coffs Harbour show Show from 30 April to 2 May to ensure rural and regional drivers and riders get home safely to their families. Show President Christopher Pearson said while country residents make up only one-third of the NSW population, two-thirds of all fatalities occur on country roads. “Motorists from our regions often feel they’re safer on their own roads than visitors but more than 70 percent of fatal crashes on country roads involve country residents,” Christopher said. He also added as an avid motorcycle rider this display will incorporate a special section catering for motorcycle riders and possibly a display of motorcycles. “That’s why Transport for NSW is partnering with NSW Police and Council at the Coffs Harbour 2021 Show, to ensure we’re aware of the risks on the road at all times and avoid them, even on familiar roads.” Vice President Margaret Crawley said information about safer driving will be available along with a number of giveaways like pens, coffee cups etc. and visitors will be able to see crashed cars and videos of other NSW residents discussing the effects they’ve experienced from road crashes. “NSW Police are often among the first on the scene for crashes on country roads and can answer questions about how they’re best avoided,” Margaret said. “Your decision to drive too fast, drive while tired or to have one more drink can result in serious consequences for yourself and others. “We all have a role to play in making sure our communities stay safe on our roads.” Safety information and giveaways will be available in the Transport for NSW marquee at the Coffs Harbour Agricultural Show on from carnival night Friday 30 April to Sunday 2 May 2021.
