Pearls of Port Stephens raise $3000 for cancer research

The Pearls of Port Stephens with the $3000 cheque raised for research into ovarian cancer and in memory of their friend, Rhonda Curtis.

LOCAL community fundraising group, the Pearls of Port Stephen, donated $3000 towards Hunter Medical Research following their very successful ‘Buy my Wardrobe’ fundraising event held on 23 January.

Member, Kerry Patterson, told News Of The Area, “Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful community we have donated $3000 to Hunter Medical Research with the funds specifically targeted towards research into ovarian cancer in memory of our dear friend, Rhonda Curtis, who lost her long battle with ovarian cancer on Christmas Day.

“We were overwhelmed by the donations of clothes and bric-a-brac and then by the community support on the day.

Thank you. This was our fifth ‘Buy my Wardrobe’ and it will not be our last.”

The Pearls of Port Stephens are hoping to hold another similar event at the popular Myall River Festival which will hopefully run later this year.
