Community Grants Program for Great Lakes MidCoast LGA (overall news) by NOTA - March 10, 2015 Great Lakes Council’s 2014 – 2015 Community Grants Program will deliver $30,000 in funding to 34 non-profit organisations across our region. “Council is pleased to be able to offer this important grants program to non-profit community organisations for projects that improve the quality of life for the Great Lakes community,” said Mayor Cr Jan McWilliams. Non-profit groups and organisations were encouraged to apply for up to $2,000 per project, with preference given to projects which build the capacity of the community rather than meeting ongoing operational costs. “We were impressed by the quality and quantity of the applications received by Council during this funding round,” said the Mayor. “The Grants Program is very competitive and although not all worthy projects could be awarded funding in this round, we encourage local groups and organisations to apply for funding next time.” Council’s Grants Committee, consisting of three Councillors, assessed the applications and made recommendations for funding which were endorsed at the Council’s February meeting.
