THE Tea Gardens Hawks’ rugby season is underway and club officials are excited about a big year in 2021. New funding boosts have kept the club moving as they comply with regulations, but continued support has been necessary to keep the game going. After missing out on a season last year, club spokesperson, Neil Reynolds, says the kickstart to the season this year is just what they need to restart momentum. “Early interest from a number of players has been encouraging,” Neil said. “The Club is also hoping to field a Ladies ‘League tag’ side, “Players have indicated interest but will need to confirm later.” Official training for Hawks teams began on Tuesday 9 February at 6pm with promising attendance. When asked about future plans for the club Neil replied, “The Hawks Juniors are a work in progress, however the Club is confident of teams in mini, mod and international divisions.” The Juniors will also hold an official sign on day on Thursday 25 February at Myall Park with an opportunity to register interest this Thursday evening the 11 of February. Trent Murphy will continue as Hawks Coach, supported by successful journeyman Greg Tassell. The Hawks are currently developing a brand-new Facebook page for increased supporter information before kick-off against the Abermain Hawks at 7pm on Friday March 12. By Samuel BARTLETT
