The program emphasises that strength and performance training is imperative for all athletes and encourages young adults to take care of their bodies not only physically but mentally as well.

Learning about healthy training habits and preventative and strength training is essential for keeping young athletes injury free and happy.

In addition to the physical elements of improved performance, young athletes will learn to develop healthy and informed eating habits that will improve performance, stamina and have a positive impact on exercise recovery.

Applications are open to all students aged 13 to 18 who live in the Coffs Region bounded by Urunga, Bellingen and Red Rock.

They are valued at over $15,000 per year and close on 31 March.

The sponsorships include initial consultations with a Hoys exercise physiologist and a dietician.

Also included are six physiotherapy sessions and a one to one strength and conditioning session per week and four remedial massages each year.

The lucky young athletes will receive individualised programming from an exercise physiologist and access to all HoysFIT Strength and Conditioning classes as well as four nutrition consultations and sponsored equipment.

If the young athlete is involved in a team sport, the team receives two strength and conditioning sessions and a 10% discount on all of Hoys services.

The sponsorship recipients’ whole school community (students and family) also receive a 10% discount.

Alex Pearson, Team Leader of Exercise Physiology at Hoys Allied Health and Wellness told News Of The Area that from their beginnings as a physiotherapy practice in Coffs Harbour in 2006, Hoys has grown into an allied health service that sponsors local AFL, rugby league, rugby union and soccer.

Alex said with the recently opened HoysFIT strengthening and conditioning centre in Forge Dr, Coffs Harbour, Hoys, “Are now able to offer high quality strength and conditioning services to the athletes of Coffs Harbour and we can give back to the community.”

“Recovery and injury prevention and management are of increasing importance.”

Mr Pearson urges all budding young athletes to apply by emailing alex@hoyshealth.com.au.
