Hitting the stage with Coffs Harbour Musical Comedy Company’s (CHMCC) 1983 production of ‘Lola Montez’ cast as one of the harlots, she went on to direct ‘The Pajama Game’ in 1987 as well as performing in other shows along the way. Having directed over thirty shows on the stage of the Jetty Memorial Theatre as well as numerous dinner theatre productions at venues including The Windmill restaurant, Pat has become the most prolific and highly respected director in town. Working with numerous community theatre groups over the years some of her many Jetty Theatre stage triumphs were ‘South Pacific’ (1995), ‘Nunsense’ (1997 and 2014), ‘Cabaret’ (2010), ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ (2010) and her most recent production ‘Calendar Girls’ in 2018. In 2017 her production of ‘Grease’ sold out all 10 shows prior to opening night, which demonstrated just how well known and appreciated Pat is in the Coffs Coast theatre scene. Pat said, “I do it for love, I just want people to have fun doing theatre and to give the audiences a great experience. “I have loved being able to bring people together as a part of our local theatre family, and I will miss being so close to them all.” Serving for many years on the CHMCC committee, Pat was made a life member of the company and in 2018 was included in the NSW Association of Community Theatre’s Hall of Fame for her exceptional service to community theatre. Rumour has it that she is already planning to direct shows in her new town and may well prompt some road trips for locals in the future. By David TUNE
