Keira competed in the Females 14 years 100 metres sprint, and was the sole representative of Medowie Christian School at the event.

There were over 30 competitors in this event from all over NSW.

Keira won her initial heat in a time of 12.19 seconds, to progress to a final comprising 10 of the fastest young female sprinters in the state.

In an exciting and hard fought final, Keira came second with a Personal Best time of 12.11 seconds, just 0.06 seconds behind Summah Harrison of Tomaree High, who overhauled a quality field to win in 12.05.

Keira told News Of The Area she was thrilled with her result, particularly after an injury and pandemic affected year on the track.

“After a very long lay off from competitions due to Covid-19, this was the first large competitive race for nearly a year.
“I was very nervous initially in the heat but did well.

“In the final against all of the fastest girls in my age group from all over NSW I ran the fastest I could and achieved a personal best time and came a very close second, and only just beat the third girl!”

Keira is now looking to build on her result in 2021.

“It was such a very exciting time and I am fired up now for future events nationally.”
