Stage One is estimated to cost $1.2 million and includes a modern amenities block including a changing facility, inclusive play space including shade sails, new paths, path lighting, public seating, picnic areas including three accessible tables and shelters, a water station, and planting/shade trees along the Woolgoolga Beach Holiday Park boundary.

As well as an adventure tower for older children, the play space includes an inclusive carousel, a hammock, and sand pit with sand diggers, and a triple swing set including a nest swing as well as standard swings.

The shaded Junior play area includes timber decks, steppers and balance logs, rocks and low planting, and a low grass mound providing opportunities for creative and active play.

There will be fencing on three sides, including along the road side of the play space.

Contractors for Council have been busy making up for lost time on the project, due to delivery delays and labour rescheduling caused by border restrictions imposed through the COVID-19 pandemic.

A large proportion of the project has involved site preparation works including improved drainage, services provision, footpath construction, footings and the amenities slab.

With this work now completed, residents are beginning to see the new Woolgoolga Beach Reserve take shape, and the works are on track for completion and for the facilities to be operational by Christmas.

The existing amenities block and playground will remain in place and in operation until their removal at the end of the NSW summer school holidays, possibly from February, following completion of the new facilities.

The project is being funded by Coffs Harbour City Council and the NSW Government (Everybody Can Play & Stronger Country Communities Funding).
