TUESDAY 24 November: The Semi Final of the Minor Pairs Competition and social bowls. Social bowls played 2 games of 3 bowls Triples 16 ends, Sheril Johnson, Jean Glover and Maynie Roberts were leading until the 10th end from then on the game belonged to Judi Polak, Jill McBride and Dale Winter, winning by 8 shots 20 v 12. On the 8th end Dawn Jones, Lorraine Murphy and Karen McPhie had a 4 shot lead against Leona Clissold, Robyn Webster and Sandra Leisemann 8 v 4. Unfortunately Karen’s team remained scoreless for the next 7 ends while Sandra’s ladies gained 15 points ultimately winning 19 v 9. Winners on the day winning with the highest score were Judi, Jill and Dale. Results of the Minor Pairs Lynda Richards and Bette Saillard defeated Jan Coomer and Lyn Nightingale 23 v 4. Ingrid Luck and Judy McGavock were leading by 6 on the 13th end (15 v 9), bowling against Sheila Rattray and Irene Roberts over the next 3 ends Sheila and Irene gained 8 shots, now just 1 shot difference in the score. With just 2 ends left to bowl it was still anyone’s game, the victors were Judy and Ingrid 18 v 15. Thursday 26th November: Social bowls and the Final of the Minor Pairs. Format for social bowls 12 ends, 2 games of Triples and a game of Pairs. Wilma Drake, Jean Glover and Pat Baker had a good win against Sue Morris, Bev Rhodes and Sandra Leisemann 19 v7. Jill McBride and Maynie Roberts defeated Sheril Johnson and Kayelene Pearson 12 v 6. Bev Dunn, Robyn Webster and Karen McPhie won the first end in their contest against Lyn Nightingale, Bev Stephens and Robyn Beaumont but that was to be all they would win, losing 16 v 1. The Final Of the Minor Pairs Lynda Richards and Bette Saillard against Ingrid Luck and Judy McGavock. This proved to be a very close contest in the early stages, on the 4th end 3 all, 6th end 6 all, 7 all on the 8th end. By the 9th end Ingrid and Judy held a 1 shot lead 8 v 7, but the “tides were about to turn”. Lynda and Bette winning the next 4 ends gaining 9 shots and finally claiming victory on the 17th end 20 v 11. Great bowling by all competitors.
