LOCAL Nationals representatives say that healthcare, roads and public housing in Myall Lakes are all receiving a boost thanks to the 2020-21 NSW Budget.

Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead said the recent budget announcement is delivering vital funding for the redevelopment of Manning Base Hospital, Forster Public Hospital, the Northern Taree Gateway and both Aboriginal Housing and Public Housing in Myall Lakes thanks to the community working together with the NSW Nationals in Government to get these important projects over the line.

“Last week I announced $1.5million to progress the $100million dollar stage 2 upgrade at Manning Base Hospital and that planning for Forster Public Hospital would continue thanks to a $7.9million pool of planning funding, today the proof was in the pudding,” Mr Bromhead said.

“The NSW Nationals in Government are also delivering $910 000 to upgrade the intersection as part of the Northern Taree Gateway project this will ensure better outcomes for businesses and families, whether transporting food and fibre, travelling for leisure, or driving home after a long day at work.

“Funding was also following for housing with $485 000 committed for new Aboriginal Housing in Forster and $520 000 for capital works on Aboriginal Housing in Taree.

“Funds are also flowing for Social Housing to both upgrade and new supply,” Mr Bromhead said.

“The NSW Government are also delivering for Tourism and Hospitality by giving every adult $100 in vouchers to spend on dining and entertainment.

“This will provide a major boost bringing $5.5million into our local economy for the industries which were hardest hit through COVID-19 and encourage all NSW residents to get back into the community and support our local, cafes, restaurants, cinemas and more,” Mr Bromhead said.

“Regional communities face unique challenges and we have had an incredibly tough few years with drought, bushfires and now COVID, but today’s Budget is Christmas come early, ensuring vital funding for this incredible electorate and its communities which make it the best place in the world to live, work and raise a family.”

Deputy Premier and Leader of the NSW Nationals John Barilaro said the NSW Nationals in Government are boosting the transformational Regional Growth Fund with a further $300 million, bringing the fund’s total to $2 billion, to continue delivering grass roots projects across the regions.

“To aid recovery and resilience across regional NSW we are also investing $639.2 million in bushfire recovery activities, $217.2 million in COVID-19 support and a further $88 million to help farmers rebound from drought,” Mr Barilaro said.

“Essential funding will also continue for programs with a dedicated focus on social, economic and industry recovery, to provide stimulus, restore destroyed structures, retain existing jobs, maintain production, strengthen supply chains and develop industry sustainability.

“Today’s budget is about bridging the city/bush divide and this record funding will deliver legacy projects and significant benefit to regional communities for generations to come, because we know that the regions are unparalleled and there is nowhere else we’d rather be.”
