This includes the local government areas of Coffs Harbour and Bellingen Shire. The award aims to recognise outstanding women working for the empowerment of women and girls in business, education and community. This year, the criteria have been reviewed to broaden nominations to include the wider community. “The process was simplified to encourage more women to be nominated,” Lyndall Weatherby, committee member, said. The committee members hope that there will be an avalanche of nominations of the many women who are out in the community doing good work, particularly nominations of younger women. Nominees for the 2021 Coffs Coast International Woman of the Year should: – demonstrate a significant contribution to empowering members of the community, in particular women and or girls, – be actively engaged in with the local community in either a voluntary, community, business or professional capacity and – be a resident of the Coffs Harbour or Bellingen local government areas. The 2020 International Woman of the year was Lily Isabella, who was recognised for her work with families and youth in a range of health and relationship issues. Ms. Isabella will compère the 2021 awards. Nomination forms can be obtained by emailing wotyearcoffs@gmail.com and should be completed by 7 December, 2020. By Andrew VIVIAN
