Today there’s still work to be done to keep the township looking friendly and more amenable.

While Council is planning to add parklets along some of the streets to increase COVID-19 safe dining options for residents and visitors.

Business Port Stephens is still operating its Civic Pride Group.

The group is powered by community volunteers who take on ownership of the amenity look and feel of the town.

It is responsible for the bright painted pots in the streetscape and for maintaining the garden beds around town.

Leah Anderson President of Business Port Stephens told News Of The Area, “We are keen to see more people getting involved in the Nelson Bay Civic Pride group as volunteers.

“The group assists with watering and weeding gardens, and identifying areas where the Chamber can work with Council to create improvements within the town precinct,” she said.

Business Port Stephens is seeking additional volunteers who may be available for an hour or two to assist in keeping the towns gardens looking bright and fresh.

Business Port Stephens’ Business Connect program has established committees for Nelson Bay, Anna Bay, Salamander Bay and Shoal Bay that meet on a regular basis.

This provides opportunity for these precincts to network and work together on matters of interest or concern to them including creating more vibrant spaces and engaging volunteers to assist in maintaining the ambiance of our townships, and main street business precincts.

You can find out about becoming a Nelson Bay Civic Pride volunteer by contacting the team at the Chamber at www.businessportstephens.com.au.
