Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said the Coffs Harbour Show is a proud local tradition our community looks forward to every year and the green light to bring this cherished event back is great news. “Much of our region is in drought recovery for the first time in years so by holding the show once again our farmers will have the opportunity to showcase everything from the amazing food and fibre they grow to their prize-winning bulls or family jam recipe,” Mr Singh said. “The show is one of the most important social events on our calendar and draws crowds from across the region, giving local businesses exposure and keeping money flowing through our economy – and I have no doubt it will give the Coffs Coast a much-needed boost. The NSW Nationals in Government will be working closely with organisers and industry associations to ensure COVID safe measures are in place for each show.” Deputy Premier John Barilaro said shows can go ahead from January 2021 with up to 5,000 people able to attend at any given time. “Country shows are the beating heart of regional communities and visiting a show is one of the highlights of living in the bush. Shows boost business and community spirit and it is important that people can enjoy these events safely and responsibly,” Mr Barilaro said. Gillian Anderson President of the Bellingen Show said, “The Bellinger River Agricultural Society is very excited at the news we will be able to hold a Show in 2021.” The show is a much loved local event and was very much missed last year. Ms Anderson told News of The Area, “Receiving the news now gives the Society time to organise this event for the May 8 and 9 next year which is wonderful.” The Committee is excited to start planning and encourages patrons, volunteers and sponsors to help make this the biggest and best show. “If you have ever thought you might like to become involved, put in an entry in the pavilion, bring your dog to the Mongrel Dog Show, or take part in the Partner Carrying Comp, the list goes on and on, this is your year,” said Ms Anderson.
