Chris Jones, MidCoast Council Libraries Manager, said that the new service was born from COVID as a minimum-contact way to engage with local libraries.

“We wanted to give people as much opportunity as possible to access our library collections during these challenging times,” he said.

Members need to complete an online form which allows them to select the items they would like to borrow, including books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and more.

“Members can request up to 20 items with this service, and staff will notify them by SMS or email when their order is ready for pick up,” Mr Jones continued.

MidCoast Libraries have experienced steady borrowing from customers through COVID-19, and have even seen an increase in service usage.

“Click and Collect will provide just another way people can access the collections which is easy and contactless; that’s what we know is important to our communities,” said Mr Jones.

Click and Collect will be rolled out as a trial service and if successful, will continue to be offered to the community.

Myall Coast Library branches include Bulahdelah, Stroud and Tea Gardens.
