BIG4 River Myall Holiday Resort in Bulahdelah has snagged the top spot of highest ranked BIG4 park in the country.

The rankings are based on reviews submitted across various platforms, including Tripadvisor, Google and customer feedback forms.

Gary Ekert, who owns and operates the Bulahdelah BIG4 with his wife, Kim, were blown away and humbled by the results.

“We only opened in December last year and it was during one of the worst droughts we’ve ever had,” said Mr Ekert.

“Then we had the bushfires in January, floods in February and then COVID-19 since March.”

“It’s been a challenging year to say the least.”

BIG4 River Myall Holiday Resort re-opened in June with the ease of regional travel restrictions.

“We’ve had high occupancy since we re-opened, especially on weekends which tend to be around 90 per cent full,” he said.

Mr Ekert said that the resort is kept to a high standard which he believes is a big factor in the win.

“It’s brand new so we’ve been able to sculpt the place into what we see as a well-resourced destination that people want to come and spend a lot of time at,” he said.

“BIG4 is all about customer service – greeting guests with a smile and treating them as the valued customers they are,” he continued.

“We’re also particular about cleanliness and make sure everything is up to a high standard which I think people really appreciate.”

BIG4 has 180 holiday parks in every state across Australia.

“We try to make ours feel a bit more personalised and homely, providing guests with ensuite-style bathrooms, big kitchens and living spaces and beautiful communal areas and facilities,” said Mr Ekert.

“We’re very proud and grateful to all our guests who continue to support us, and those who take the time to write reviews because without that we wouldn’t be where we are today.”
