Hawks Nest Social Fishing is popular in the holidays Sport by NOTA - January 21, 2015 Rapley Family at Tea Gardens The school holidays brought the junior ‘fishing-people’ out for an angle to show all their parents and grandparents how it is done. The Hunt family juniors were narrowly ahead of late comers, the Rapley family juniors. “That’s how you spend your time at Christmas,” they all agreed. First place for the juniors was Jayden Hunt, weighing a flathead and whiting. Second place belonged to Brock Salter with some great whiting and third was Ashton Salter also with a whiting. The Rapley juniors caught a whiting and flounder for their first family fishing outing. Well done to all the juniors. The overall winner and men’s division winner for the weekend outing was Matt Everingham with a great catch of bonito, tailor, bream and whiting. Runner up was Andrew Sharp weighing bream, whiting and flathead. The ladies division was very exciting with equal first place belonging to Michelle Cole and Jessica Slow. Michelle weighed a great flathead and whiting while Jessica weighed bream, whiting and flathead. The mystery fish was finally won with a two plus kilogram flathead in Michelle Cole’s fishing basket.
