Great Lakes Council: News in Brief FEATURED MidCoast LGA (overall news) by NOTA - December 10, 2014 DRAFT KARUAH RIVER CATCHMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN The Draft Karuah River Catchment Management Plan is on public exhibition for viewing and feedback until Friday 12 December. The Plan has been developed to maintain and improve the health of the Karuah River Catchment’s natural environment so that it can sustainably support the catchment’s community and industries. The Plan can be viewed on Council’s website or in person at Council’s Customer Service Centre in Forster or at the Stroud District Office. CHRISTMAS CLOSURES Great Lakes Council offices, depots and libraries will close over the Christmas and New Year holiday week, with all facilities reopening for business as usual from Monday 5 January 2015. For specific closing dates and times, please contact Council or refer to Council’s website. An emergency telephone contact list during the closure period will be available by calling 6591 7222. CHRISTMAS CAROLS FROM COUNCIL TO THE COMMUNITY Great Lakes Council staff and councillors are inviting the community to join them at the Forster Customer Service Centre in Breese Parade at9am on Christmas Eve for a Christmas carol performance. For many years now, Council employees have pooled their considerable musical talents to perform “Carols in the Office”, serenading a growing crowd each year. Mayor Cr Jan McWilliams says this is an opportunity for Council staff and councillors to thank local people for everything they do to build community in the Great Lakes. All ages are welcome and children may be in for a special treat! SUMMER READING PROGRAM Great Lakes Council is inviting preschool, primary and secondary students to get stuck into reading these school holidays with the Library’s Summer Reading Program. There are incentive prizes as well as major prizes to be won and a dedicated website to provide even more reading activities and games. Students are invited to drop into their nearest Great Lakes Library from Monday 8 December to register.
