An update from the Mayor, Councillor Jan McWilliams MidCoast LGA (overall news) by NOTA - December 5, 2014December 4, 2014 COMMUNITY MEETINGS We have just completed our tour of the Great Lakes, holding community update meetings on the results of the community survey on infrastructure maintenance. We are very thankful for the warm reception we have received everywhere. I believe we are in-line with our community’s thinking on where we are heading in ensuring our Council is sustainable into the far future. I also believe everyone is happy with our decision on the Hunter alliance and Great Lakes being a member of the joint Hunter Region of Councils. CAROLS IN THE OFFICE I’d like to invite everyone to attend the Council staff Christmas Carols performance on Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24 December. It starts at 9am and it has become quite a tradition that our staff gather in Breese Parade Customer Service Centre and serenade our customers with Christmas Carols. CHRISTMAS CLOSURES Council offices and libraries will close at 1pm on Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24 December (except for Stroud District Office which closes at 12pm as usual) and they will reopen on Monday 5 January 2014. Tuncurry, Tea Gardens and Stroud Depots will close as usual on Wednesday 24 December and Bulahdelah Depot will close for business at the usual time on Tuesday 23 December. Minimal staff will be operating for maintenance activities during this time. All Depots will reopen on Monday 5 January 2015. AUSTRALIA DAY You are invited to attend our Great Lakes Australia Day Ceremony on Monday 26 January 2015 at Club Forster beginning at 10.30am with a free morning tea. The Ceremony starts at 11am and will include the announcement of the Great Lakes Australia Day Award winners. We will also announce the regional winners of the Schools Australia Day e-calendar competition.
