29 January: The Wednesday Nominated Triples enjoyed another great turn out with 54 bowlers on the greens.

Each week we see new bowlers joining our Club and this week we saw some former players return to beautiful Tea Gardens.

Club membership now is honing in on the 100 mark and the Selectors for Pennants this year will have plenty to pick from as about 70% of the membership have nominated to participate.

The winners today were based on the morning game and on the grass, Gary Wynne, John Moore and Dave Benson were successful, whilst on the synthetic, Lance Atkins, Ron Green and Greg Pearson prevailed.

The Lucky losers were; Dave Garcia, Ron Rowe and Ross Barry.

1 February: The first round of the Club Minor Pairs competition was played today with conditions stifling hot and bordering on bowls being cancelled.

There were a couple of forfeits but 3 games were played in the first round.

Bob Peady and Dave Benson had a comprehensive win over John Payne and Tony Coomer.

They won 26-11.

Dennis Wilberforce and Garry Porter accounted for Graham Uff and Daryl Martin 16-10 and Col Saillard and Neil Kibble were far too strong for Col Walton and Peter Campbell, 35-3.

It was good to see that several new players trying their luck today.

It is by entering these competitions that their skill levels will be enhanced and that they know how much they need to improve.

2 February: The second round of the Club Minor Pairs competition was due to be played today with 8 teams competing.

The organisers bought the starting time forward to beat the heat, but in the end, the heat won with the competition being called off, with only a few ends played, when the mercury hit the red zone.

Some games have been re-scheduled for Wednesday and some for next Friday, weather permitting, so that the semi-finals can be played on Saturday and the finals next Sunday.

It was to be the last time that Graham Kelly plays in our Club competitions as he leaves for Budgewoi mid-month.

Graham has been a real stalwart of the Club during his time here acting in several roles on the management committee that saw him awarded the prestigious, “Clubman of the Year” award.

Graham has also been active in Pennant competitions over the years and will be missed by all his mates at Tea Gardens.
