The Award has been established to encourage, recognise and reward excellence in art, and in 2020 it will be presented to an outstanding Higher School Certificate (HSC) art student at Bulahdelah Central School.

“The winning student will receive $500 which can be used as they see fit – for art materials or courses, to go toward further education, living expenses or simply to use as a well-deserved treat!” says GIG president Lesly Stevenson.

GIG will also host a special exhibition and opening function at The Gallery, showcasing the final HSC works of all students in the class.

“Being part of an exhibition, and with the opportunity to sell their works if they wish, will provide a valuable experience into the professional art world,” Lesly said.

“Whether or not anyone is aiming for a future career in art, taking time out to be creative is beneficial as a wonderful leisure pursuit that helps with relaxation and focus.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing where their creativity leads them!”

More details of the exhibition will be advised closer to the date, which will be sometime in the fourth quarter of 2020.
