However when it comes to fundraising sometimes being out of sight and out of mind makes things that little bit harder.

recently the Lions Club of Soldiers Point with the assistance of Bunnings at Taylors Beach donated a barbeque to the school that the Parents and Citizens Association (P & C) can use to fundraise with the all Australian Sausage Sizzle.

Relieving Principal Louisa De Souza was excited to see the barbeque being put together by the local Lions, she told News Of The Area, “Having the Lions give us the opportunity to raise funds for things that we can use in and around the school for the students, providing books and sporting equipment and STEM technology.”

Humble sausage sandwiches are being turned into STEM learning coding opportunities with the P & C purchasing Ozone Bots and Lego We Do’s for the students the new barbeque will make it easier to cater at the school fundraising events.

“The students have just had a ball playing and learning with these combining science and mathematics,” she said.

The school is fortunate to have a very active P & C whose fundraising contributes to the education and wellbeing of the schools students.

Soldiers Point Public School has around 340 students who feed into Tomaree High School when they move from Primary School into High School.

The Students learning STEM based subjects now will give them a positive foundation for the projected future of jobs in the region.
