The Club received funding as part of the Community Building Partnership through Kate Washington’s office in the amount of $30,950, with them fundraising the additional amount to reach their goal of $35,200.

Kate, who was present for the opening, told News Of The Area, “I’d like to congratulate the Medowie Tennis Club on their work to keep on offering such good facilities to the township.”

The court, which has been re-surfaced with synthetic grass, is now of full championship size.

Greg Lamborn, President of Medowie Tennis Club, told News Of The Area, “By having this new championship sized court we are hopeful we can attract some regional Port Stephens tournament finals to the Club.”

The works, which were well overdue on the court that hadn’t been upgraded for around 18 years, were completed by local company Raw Courts who are based in Medowie.

Medowie Tennis Club currently has approximately 40 members and runs social competitions on Tuesdays morning for ladies and evening for mixed teams, along with having a ladies team in the intra-club competition held around the Port Stephens area.

Sam Osborn also runs junior coaching on a Tuesday and Friday afternoon at the Club located behind the skate park on Ferodale Road.
