The actual makeover is scheduled from November 30 through the first week of December and aims to revitalise the township of Anna Bay.

The community is being challenged to raise funds and give their time to ensure that the makeover is a success.

Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer told News Of The Area, “There is $25,000 allocated towards materials for the project in the Council budget and we have also funded the engagement of Creative Communities, David Engwicht and his team.”

The Anna Bay 7 Day Make Over will tell the story of Anna Bay, its setting as a seaside town; with the elements of the dunes the camels, the surf the whales, all these elements of the story being present.

David Engwicht told News Of The Area, “If we get things like boats donated we like to have a look at them before we do the workshop, so we can see if it is something that can be used in the 7 Day Make Over.”

He believes we will see an aesthetic which will emerge, the big transformations will be a welcome and some kind of a gateway statement for Anna Bay which will hopefully incorporate a photo opportunity.”

Four foundation colours will be used to give the 7 Day Make Over projects continuity.

“There has to be connection from the exit to the dunes to the centre of town; the Anna Bay 7 Day Make Over will be more concentrated than the Tuncurry project,” he said.

He believes that there are two potential spaces which could be established as a civic heart for Anna Bay.

The community is all incredibly inspired and can’t wait for the makeover to start on November 30.

A representative of Anna Bay Next Wave said, “We would love all of Anna Bay, young and old to get behind this makeover and volunteer or donate, so we can create great public spaces for the community to enjoy as well as a record-breaking makeover!”

Of course you don’t have to live in Anna Bay to be part of the 7 Day Make Over.

Leah Anderson, President of Tomaree Business Chamber, the driving force behind brining the 7 Day Make Over to Port Stephens said “It is inspiring and encouraging and with the commitment from the community we are ensuring this makeover will be a success; David believes this will be the biggest makeover yet!”.

While Council has contributed towards this makeover with $25,000 for materials there is a need for the community to donate both funds and materials that will help make the make over a success.
