The idea started with a group of Medowie parents on a Facebook page wanting to create a safe way for their children to enjoy trick or treating on October 31.

Buckets of orange balloons are distributed throughout the community for residents to hang on their letterbox to indicate they are a Halloween friendly house and are happy to receive ghosts and ghouls knocking on their door.

A map is also compiled and distributed to parents on the Medowie Mums Facebook page so children can plan out their night.

The map also has the ability for households to specific the treats on offer at their house, orange for food treats, teal or green for non-food treats or purple for both food and non-food treats, enabling those with allergies to enjoy the festivities also.
