An extravaganza of local schools talent had the audience enthralled at the performances.

From drama to drums to choirs and solo singers the schools demonstrated their diverse talents.

In front of a full house over two nights, Irrawang High School hosted the primary schools with students singing, dancing, drumming, playing music, and performing skits.

Mr Paul Baxter, Principal of Irrawang High School told News Of The Area, “Irrawang hosts Showcase for collaboration with the four partner primary schools, displaying fantastic work of students and teachers.”

Irrawang Public School Principal, Ms Stacy Mathieson said to News Of The Area, “What a night!”

“Showcase once again provides our students with a fabulous avenue to shine and the chance for our primary students to see firsthand the amazing creative and performing arts opportunities that lay ahead for them at Irrawang High.”

During the evening, some old favourites were brought out, familiar to the kids from the 1980s such as the song, Wash Your Face With Orange Juice which had audience members toe-tapping along.

Councillor for Port Stephens, Mr Giacomo Arnott said to News Of The Area, “Our local schools put a lot of time and energy into promoting the creative and performing arts, and Showcase is the premiere event in Raymond Terrace to show off the incredible talent of our young people.”

“It also adds a cultural event to our area’s calendar. I strongly encourage members of the public to come along next time and enjoy the show.”

“The final performance, with all of the students, always has so much energy and passion, and this year was no different. Well done to all of the schools, students and staff involved in such a successful show.”

Ms Trish Bowen, Director of Education Leadership said that, “Showcasing talent of our students and giving them opportunities to show success is important.”

Pre-show, the principals and school supporters enjoyed the hospitality of year 11 students who treated guests to a variety of gourmet creations.

With bruschetta, punch, meringues, pork meatballs, and other treats served up, VIP guests were left satisfied before the Showcase had begun.
