With over 800 000 students and 60 000 teachers across the state, there is a large pool to draw from in these awards. Raymond Terrace Community PBL Team Leader and teacher at Irrawang Public School, Ms Merri Brady spoke to News Of The Area about this great achievement. Ms Brady said, “We as a team are extremely proud of what we have achieved so far as a community of schools.” “To be acknowledged at the state level is both humbling and gratifying.” “We are very proud to have been nominated for such a prestigious award.” “As a team of schools, Raymond Terrace Community Positive Behaviour for Learning is striving for our students to make the connection that positive behaviour is valued everywhere: school, home and in the community.” “It is as simple as reminding them what is expected rather than trying to consequence them into compliance.” “We want Positive Behaviour for Learning to be seen as Positive Behaviour for Life.” News Of The Area also spoke with Centre Manager and Marketing Manager at Raymond Terrace MarketPlace, Ms Colleen Mulholland-Ruiz who said, “MarketPlace is a strong supporter of community PBL because we believe in the true value of what PBL is all about.” “We are so proud of our PBL schools in winning this amazing education award not only for their schools and our area but across NSW,” Ms Mulholland-Ruiz said. “Principals, teachers and all school staff along with students have worked so hard in making this program a success not only in their schools but in the community and we are very blessed to be a part of this great partnership of schools and community.” “As we always say at MarketPlace teach the children well and let them lead the way.” Ms Mulholland-Ruiz has previously been recognised for her work with PBL when she was named two years ago as Port Stephens Council Citizen of the Year.
