Tuesday 27th August: The final of the Club Championship Triples was played. Lorraine Murphy, Maynie Roberts and Kayelene Pearson v Bev Rhodes, Sandra Leisemann and Lynne Green. Lynne’s team started strongly holding the lead till the 7th end then Kayelene’s ladies just scrapped ahead by 1 shot. This was to be the only time they were in front, on the 14th end they were down by 6 shots but with some great bowling had reduced this to just 1 shot difference by the 18th end, the score 16 v 17. The last 3 ends belonged to Lynne’s side winning the 2019 Triples Championship 22 v 16. Thanks to Kathie Rimmer for umpiring. Format for social bowls 2 games of 2 bowls Triples 21 ends and a game of Fours 18 ends. Jan Coomer, Judy McGavock and Pat Baker 25 v Leona Clissold, Carol Hayden and Maureen Campbell 16. Lynda Richards, Dorothy Thompson, Jill McBride and Robyn Webster 20 defeated Ingrid Luck, Christine Fossey, Jeanette Emmett and Karen McPhie 11. A win also for Judi Polak, Loretta Baker and Dale Winter 19 v Pam Gilchrist, Jean Glover and Karen Green 16. The winners with the lowest margin were Dale’s team. The winner of the voucher to the Myall Bistro & Café was Pam Gilchrist.

Thursday 29th August: Social bowls 5 games, 3 bowls Pairs 12 ends. Prior to play everyone joined in to wish Maynie Roberts a happy 80th birthday. Lynda Richards and Maureen Campbell were leading 5 to nil at the start of the 5th end against Bev Rhodes and Sandra Leisemann but the final result was a win for Bev and Sandra 11 v 7. On the next rink Sue Morris and Karen McPhie were losing by 7 shots on the 9th end to Pam Gilchrist and Kayelene Pearson. On the 10th end they gained 5 shots, eventually just going down by 2 shots 13 v 11. A close game between Jean Glover and Pat Baker 13 v Jan Coomer and Lynne Green 11. A big win for Jill McBride and Lorraine Murphy 21 v Bev Dunn and Maynie Roberts 5. A win as well to Judi Polak and Loretta Baker 9 v Margaret Wigman and Dale Winter 6.

Friday 30th August: Lorraine Murphy, Robyn Webster, Maynie Roberts and Kayelene Pearson travelled to Wallsend to compete in NDWBA Versatility Day. Lorraine won her Singles game. Robyn, Maynie and Kayelene had a loss in the Triples. To quote Robyn “we had a bowls lesson on wet grass”. Unfortunately rain washed out the rest of play and this event is rescheduled for the 27th September.

Our weekend Pennant team did not have to bowl against Soldiers Point on the 31st August as they had already won their section. The team will compete in the Post Sectional Play Offs on the 14th and 15th September at Raymond Terrace.

Coming events: Open Consistency Competition commences Thursday 5th September.
