Book week was one of the highlights with the book parade seeing all the students dressed as characters from their favourite books. While the parade was relocated to the school hall due to the inclement weather students and some staff, proudly strutted their costumes for all to see. There were plenty of Hogwarts students present including the clever Hermione Granger, for the book parade. Your NOTA reporter, on the scene, at the book week parade, spotted Where’s Wally, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Batman, a pirate, Wonder Woman, Minnie Mouse, an array of Disney princesses and even a knight in shining armour. Batman, also known as Ben Cornish, Assistant Principal at Tomaree Public School told News Of The Area, “Tomaree’s Terrific, Totally Awesome Day is in its third year.” The school combines book week, science week, maths week, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day all into one celebration. The day kicked off with a “blokes breakfast” which saw about 80 parents attend. The breakfast was followed by a successful parents morning tea. “The day finished off with reading rampage where students rotated through classrooms where teachers read their favourite picture book to the students,” he said. The day was well attended by parents and visitors and this NOTA reporter can confirm that Tomaree’s Terrific, Totally Awesome Day certainly delivered on terrific and awesome.
