The senior men’s team has decided to dedicate the round to the Get Talkin’s Tour.

The event is a partnership with the NSW Positive Rugby Foundation will visit six towns and run over 30 events.

It aims to raise awareness in Northern NSW for the one in five men who experience mental health conditions annually.

Ms Kate Holbert told News Of The Area, “We are using our Heritage Round o raise awareness.”

“Our Club is celebrating 39 years this year.”

“So, in giving back to our proud and rich history, we have brought back the original long-sleeved design from our founding members with an edge from this year’s Premier Coach Tim Lancaster.”

“This year we were saddened by the sudden loss of founding members Stan McManus and Steve Mahoney, which created shock waves through the Club and community.”

At Boyd Oval from 11.00am to 3.00pm on 24 August, Rugby Union matches will be played against Lake Macquarie.

Ms Holbert also said, We will have the canteen and drinks operating as well as coffee van, cake stall and raffles organised by the Medowie Social Riders.”

“Supporters are welcomed to come in 80s inspired fashion such as original jerseys, thick moustaches, shoulder pads, and mullets.”

The field will be open from 10.30 and the following games will be plated:

11.10am: Nelson Bay Under 18s
12.30pm: Medowie Premier 3
1.40pm: Nelson Bay Premier 2
3.00pm: Nelson Bay Premier 1

The Get Talkin’ Tour that this Round will raise awareness for, addresses the greater challenges Australians living in regional and remote areas including stigma, access to services, isolation, and pressures from drought.
