This special event is in celebration of the school’s 25th anniversary.

A special assembly is being held on Friday, 6 September from 1.45pm.

Community members, past and present staff, students and families are invited to a picnic lunch beforehand starting at 12:45.

Port Stephens Mayor Mr Ryan Palmer, founding Principal Mr Kevin Coleman, and founding P&C President Ms Ellen Gordon will attend the assembly.

This will be followed on Saturday 7 September with a Fair in the school grounds from 8.30am-2.30pm.

The community is invited to the Fair and will include stalls run by regular market stores, students and teachers, the Raymond Terrace Lions Club, The Crafty Pit, and the school’s canteen, The Black Swan Café.

Ms Michele Winn, Principal, told News Of The Area, “Together we grow with pride, learn for life and strive to be the best that we can be.”

“We are hoping the school fair will help us raise funds to continue to run extra programs which improve the outcomes for all our students.”

Ms Amy Gordon, teacher at the school, told News Of The Area, “The time capsule will be opened at the Fair on the Saturday at 9.00am.”

“There will be another time capsule put together.”

“Each class are putting together a small package of things which may include their favourite music, food, and what they think they will be doing in 25 years’ time.”

“The new time capsule will be on display in the office, ready to be opened at the 50th anniversary of the school.”

“There will be a memorabilia display in the school hall featuring photo displays ranging from the school’s opening day through to now.”

“There are photos from school camps, excursions, events held at the school as well as some original awards, reports and class photos.”

“The issues of the school magazine, Baiamul, will be available for guests to look at as well.”

“We would love for past and present staff, students and families to share any memorabilia they have for the day,” said Ms Gordon.

The School is proud of their achievements over their quarter century including participating in the local school’s PBL program, StarStruck, sporting teams, debating, Showcase, Tournament of the Minds, dance and music, and much more.

For past students and staff or community members with memorabilia to contribute, this can be left in a box in the school office.

Photos of memorabilia or memories can also be emailed to gps25anniversary@gmail.com
