Meryl Miller of the Port Stephens Community Arts Centre told News Of The Area, “Everyone is welcome to attend the exciting events on the day will include a sausage sizzle, cake stall, Garden stall, art auction of donated pieces, plus there is a chance to see the talented artisans at work in the Pottery Barn which will be open, a quilling demonstration will be held at 10am, a glass art talk at 12 noon, bonsai demonstration at 1pm, children’s woodwork classes are also available.”

Other demonstrations include card making, kumihimo braiding, painting, fusion, fabric art, mosaics, patch work, and
embroidery.

“There will also be a small painting sale, there’s a lot to see, so come and join in the fun,” she said.

There will also be music by a local duo on the day.

The Port Stephens Community Arts Centre’s current exhibitions pay tribute to, Rivers Lakes and Mountains and Printmaking.

Isabel Pringle, a Watercolour Artist is the feature artist.

Isabel who has always had a passion for art, was born in Scotland and came to Australia in 1952.

She was a founding member of Singleton District Arts and was the founder of the Singleton Art Prize.

She attended Cessnock Technical College for four years studying Showcard, ticket writing and silk screen printing at the same time running her own printing business.

Being mostly self-taught, she first studied under Fredric Wullner, and then while living in Singleton in the Hunter Valley, she painted under the tutelage of Max Watters OAM.

Isabel joined the Port Stephens Community Arts Centre in 2018.

Her power of observation clearly shows in her detailed work of the Australian flora and fauna.

Isabel’s bird life paintings have appeared together with an article in the magazine “Australian Aviary Life”.

Isabel has won numerous awards in both Oil and Watercolour works. She still continues to attend tutorials whenever she can, believing that nobody can ever learn enough of the wonderful medium “Watercolour”.

Isabel’s work has been purchased for private collections in Australia, New Zealand, Germany, United States of America, & Great Britain.
