The event was a collaboration with the Real Futures Foundation and saw local businesses Buckley Richardson and Partners, Environmental Property Services, Providence Medical, PRD Nationwide, Mayor Ryan Palmer, Ceassa Comprehensive Electrical and Safety Services, Shoal Bay Country Club, Salamander Bay Childcare Centre, Lahey Constructions, Salamander Square, NSW National Parks, Hover UAV, and Port Stephens Council interacting with students to help them make informed decisions.

The goal of the Career Information Session was to introduce students to careers by bringing business representatives into the school to discuss their business and their roles, while connecting with prospective employers.

On the day students had an up-close-and-personal view of an array of occupations, especially ones they may not have heard of or thought of previously.

The session aims to broaden perspectives beyond classic, familiar jobs such as being a teacher or firefighter.

Kyle McElwain Tomaree High Schools Careers Advisor told News Of The Area, “Students had thoughts on future careers reinforced or challenged in a very positive way by the many & various business representatives.

“The session provided valuable advice to students to assist in their subject selection for Year 12 and ensure they can embark on their chosen career path,” he said.
