Karuah RSL Sub Branch and the Bulahdelah War Memorial Trust have both been approved for contributions from the Centenary of Anzac Grants Program.

These grants will support their projects commemorating the service and sacrifice of Australians during the First World War.

The Bulahdelah War Memorial Trust has been granted $14,000 to establish a memorial garden, commemorative exhibition and a dedication service.

The Karuah RSL Sub-Branch will take receipt of $4,132 to produce a commemorative booklet about the First World War soldiers from the Karuah area.

Barrie French, Secretary of the Karuah RSL Sub Branch told Myall Coast News, “The Karuah History Group has already done a lot of the research and preparation of the booklet is well advanced.”

“The booklet will be distributed to all schools in the District in April 2015 and made available to the residents through other outlets in the area,” he said.

Across the country $125,000 has been made available to each Federal electorate for community and ex-service groups to spend on commemorative programs.

Federal Member Bob Baldwin told Myall Coast News, “So far, the Paterson area has now received $26,540 of the allocation, including the recently announced Forster-Tuncurry Lone Pine Memorial Park project.”

The Anzac Centenary Local Grants Program is a key element of the Australian Government’s Anzac Centenary program.
