Tuesday 25th June: The final round of the Annis Young Consistency Competition, Robyn Beaumont v Lynda Richards and Maynie Roberts v Robyn Webster. The winner of this even is the first bowler to reach 150, points are awarded as follows 4 points to the bowl closest to the Jack then 3 points, 2 points and then 1 point. Robyn and my game lasted for 29 ends. I held the lead till the 9th end then Robyn edged ahead holding the lead by 19 on the 22nd end 117 v 98. On the 25th end I had managed to narrow her lead to 5, 125 v 120 but the last 4 ends belonged to Robyn winning 151 v 134. On the next Rink Maynie and Robyn (Webster) battled for 27 ends. This was a very close contest both bowlers taking turns in holding a narrow lead the score on the 19th end Robyn 97 v Maynie 93. The next 6 ends belonged to Maynie, she added 45 shots to her tally, winning 152 v 118. Maynie and Robyn (Beaumont) will now represent our Club at the District Annis Young Competition which will be held in October, not the first time for either of them to have won this honour. Thanks to Karen Green for umpiring and the Markers Dale Winter and Francis Betar. Due to weather conditions there were only a few members present for social bowls, 2 games of Triples. Sheril Johnson, Maureen Campbell and Dale Cameron 19 v Dawn May, Lyn Nightingale and Karen McPhie 17. Sheila Rattray, Christine Fossey and Bette Saillard 15 v Dawn Jones, Jean Glover and Jill McBride 9. The winners, winning with the highest score were Dale’s team.

Thursday 27th June: Four of our Grade 4 Yellow Pennant team (runners up)headed to Cardiff for the unfurling of their flag and lunch. It was a lovely day and we were made very welcome. Cardiff went on to win the Regional final and will compete in the Sate Pennant in August. Back home, social bowls as usual format 3 games of Triples. Lyn Nightingale, Robyn Webster and Kayelene Pearson 20 v Bev Dunn, Pam Gilchrist and Karen Green 2. Carol Hayden, Bette Saillard and Dale Winter 18 v Judi Polak, Jill McBride and Sandra Leisemann 11. Ann Remment, Julie Kennedy and Maynie Roberts 17 v Trish Ward, Jean Glover and Lorraine Murphy 10.

Friday 28th June: Robyn Webster, Karen McPhie and Bette Saillard travelled to Lemon Tree Passage for the annual NDWBA President, Secretary, Treasurer and Delegates Day. Bowls, raffles, lucky door prizes and lunch.The purpose of this event is for the District to say thanks to the Committee members of all the Clubs in their District and giving all the opportunity to “get to know each other” a little better. Our ladies had a wonderful day.

Coming events: Tuesday 2nd July: Lemon Tree Passage Trophy Day. Saturday 6th July: Weekend Pennants commences. Monday 8th July: Day 1 District Pairs Competition.
